We're changing...
For the first time in over 5 years, Co‑operativesUK is proposing a change in the way members’ subscriptions are calculated, which we believe will create a simpler, more equitable and fairer way of working out subscriptions.
Who does this proposal affect?
The proposed changes will affect our co‑operative and mutual members that are not in the UK100. It does not affect, at this time, our federal members, co‑operative development members or associate members.
How do you currently calculate subscriptions?
Since 2003, Co‑operativesUK has determined subscriptions for most, but not all, members based on a basic fee plus a variable rate, which is specific to each member. Click here to go to our current subscriptions page.
Why is there a need for a change?
Our members have told us that they find the existing method of calculating subscriptions to be unnecessarily complicated. Some members have also suggested that it is not fair and have pointed out that the number of people employed by a co‑operative does not necessarily reflect its ability to pay.
