With well over 4700 co‑operative and mutual enterprises in the United Kingdom there is bound to be one near you.
For the past five years we have been engaged in a project named Synergy. Up until now project has focussed on developing a database of co‑operative and mutual enterprise in the United Kingdom and providing a family of on line searchable directories.
The main directory can be found at www.uk.coop.
In addition there are regionally and sector based directories, a list of which you can browse and open by clicking here.
The objective of Synergy is to bring real benefits to co‑operatives by encouraging co‑operative to co‑operative business and networking. The on line directories are a small step in the right direction, but are limited in what they can achieve.
In 2008 we entered into a Knowledge Transfer Partnership with Salford University. Our partnership with the University will help us to build a collaborative environment on the web using Web2.0 and social networking technologies.
